FLOP
~[Antonio Ruz / 2024]
With the intention of rehumanizing (ourselves), of returning to connection and acknowledging our vulnerability, FLOP explores the interaction between two bodies that seek each other, attempt, fail, succeed, support one another, or isolate themselves, coexisting within the intimacy of a shared yet foreign space.
In a society where, subtly yet stubbornly and consistently, we are made to feel that happiness and success are obligations, and where an individual’s value is measured by productivity or the number of likes they collect, it seems almost unimaginable to entertain the idea of failure in our pursuits. Failure, in this context, becomes a stigma, a dishonor. But what is failure, really? When do we truly fail in a project? And in a relationship?
FLOP is a small-scale project featuring only two performers, delving into the complexities of human relationships, fragility, and desire. In this first phase of research, the initial choreographic sketch of the creative process will be developed, with plans for a premiere of the reduced version in the spring of 2024.
